The recent clash between the DA and Cosatu, highlights the critical space skills development and talent management occupies in the South African industry. This puts the spotlight squarely on responsible skills and talent management.

 We will no doubt see this debate escalating over the next months.

 Skills development remains a critical requirement for profitability, sustainability and economic growth.

Time has a way of not waiting on us.  Here is a reminder of some key dates on the skills horizon.

For an applicant to be eligible to do a trade assessment under Section 28, the applicant needs: 

Over and above its other priority areas, the South African Oil and Gas Alliance (SAOGA) values Skills Development and Job Creation.  The organisation seeks, on a continuous basis to play an enabling role to promote skills development, understanding that a pool of appropriate skills will improve economic opportunity in the sector.  It is a given that increased business development opportunities gravitate towards the presence of a concentration of excellent skills in a region.
