We are now at the end of what has been a long, hard year for most of us and the complete lack of traffic in the morning commute this week tells me that most sensible people are already on their holidays recharging for the year ahead – I am looking forward to joining them later today!
2009 has been a year of significant change for me personally and no doubt for SAOGA too. As I get a few moments to reflect on that change I am grateful for the new challenges and relationships that have come my way. I am grateful for my team at SAOGA who have welcomed me into the organization and have worked hard to get new and renewed initiatives rolling – I am pleased with the new energy that will carry this organization into the year ahead. I am grateful for our board who give of their time to put something back into the industry and I am grateful for our funders who partner with us in the vision of growing the oil & gas industry in South Africa. I am especially grateful for the many and varied companies and characters that make up our industry and member base – it has been a delight getting to know many of you and I am constantly fascinated by the companies we have in the alliance. So thanks to everyone who has journeyed with us and me through this year!
I am thankful too for the God who sustains me and whose birth we celebrate in this season of Christmas. My He grant you peace and joy over this holiday season and a prosperous and fruitful year ahead – I look forward to continuing the journey and the work in 2010!
