Upskilling Courses on Offer in Cape Town

NOTE: There are currently NO up-skilling courses running at present. 

The issue of developing talent and skills is often more complex than meets the eye.  Harmonising competing business needs and employee needs adds to the challenge.   Sustained success in business is about striking a happy medium in this area, with increased productivity and growth over the long term.    The SAOGA Skills Office is involved in several projects to support skills development in the sector.  

Artisan Training

The SAOGA artisan trainee placement project, with partners Department of Economic Development and Tourism, City of Cape Town, CASIDRA and industry is making steady progress.  The project will see 50 artisan trainees placed in a workplace environment for an experiential learning period of twelve months.  The Department of Economic Development and Tourism and the City of Cape Town is providing support for stipends and training.  Member companies are encouraged to contact Adrian Strydom at AStrydom@offshoreafrica.co.za to participate.

Upskilling Training

SAOGA upskilling courses are designed to provide training support to the sector.   The training programme offer member companies support in the form of a subsidy.  Courses were carefully selected based on the training needs expressed in surveys, planning workshops and the SAOGA skills task team meetings. Kindly ensure that completed applications and payment reach the skills office two weeks prior to the commencement of the respective courses (or as indicated). 

Strategic Skills Development

SAOGA is on an ongoing basis involved with strategic initiatives to enable and support skills development in the sector.  Such areas as information gathering, knowledge management, training standards, Recognition of Prior Learning, the proposed Marine Oil and Gas Academy and quality assurance are gaining momentum.
