SBIDZ LICO
The Saldanha Bay Industrial Development Zone Licensing Company (SBIDZ LICO), the operator of the Saldanha Bay Industrial Development Zone (SBIDZ) is focused on the establishment of an Oil and Gas Services Freeport cluster incorporating marine repair, fabrication and logistics capabilities that service the regional offshore oil and gas markets of sub-Saharan Africa. The Zone is located in the Port of Saldanha Bay, approximately 2 hours’ drive from Cape Town along the West Coast.
The mandate of the Zone is to stimulate economic growth and sustainable job creation in South Africa in line with the socio-economic developmental plans and policies of the South African Government. The responsibilities of the SBIDZ LICO include the promotion, management and marketing of the Zone in Saldanha Bay; the delivery of internal infrastructure & land to suit investor requirements, and the facilitation of the ease of doing business for investors. In addition, the Zone must also drive a dynamic local skills development and enterprise development programme to ensure maximum localisation of benefits to the West Coast community.
The SBIDZ LICO was officially designated as South Africa’s fifth IDZ by President Jacob Zuma on the 31st October 2013 in Saldanha Bay.

SAASR
The SAASR strives to set out procedures and regulations within the ship building and repair industry that foster good safety attitudes and practices and a healthy working environment. All activities performed on, or in, a ship – either afloat, in floating dock, graving dock, or slipway – are subject to the South African Merchant Shipping Act 57 of 1951 and the Maritime Occupational Safety Regulations of 1994. As a member of the SAASR you will not only reap the benefits of a great support team and knowledge base, but you will ensure compliance within your business and improve your own offering.

The Oil Council
The Oil Council is a network of oil and gas executives in the world, connecting oil and gas executives, and in turn their companies, to each other and to their partners in the finance and investment worlds. Their network spans the global oil and gas value chain and comprises Members (individuals connecting into our network) and Partners (companies connecting into our network to promote themselves regionally or globally).
Focus is on the business dynamics of oil and gas; the pioneers, partnerships, capital, transactions, joint ventures and capex that determine the future direction of the industry and shape tomorrow’s energy landscape. The Oil Council network of Members and Partners includes upstream, LNG/midstream, downstream and oilfield services leaders, as well as, recognised energy experts from investment banks, law firms, management consultancies, advisory boutiques, investment houses, technology providers and government ministries/regulators. The Oil Council brings these senior executives together to facilitate new investment, encourage business development, showcase excellence and promote thought leadership across the wider industry.
