Anadarko SA - Notification of the commencement of a 3D Seismic Survey in Licence Block 5/6/7 off the South-West Coast of SA

This letter and enclosed information provides notification of the commencement of a seismic survey off the
South-West Coast of South Africa.
Notice is hereby given in terms of the approved Environmental Management Programme (EMPr) that Anadarko
South Africa (Pty) Ltd (Anadarko) is proposing to commence with a three-dimensional (3D) seismic survey within
Petroleum Licence Block 5/6/7 off the South-West Coast of South Africa on 01 January 2020. Petroleum Geo-
Services (PGS) has been contracted to undertake the survey. The survey area is located roughly between Cape
Point and Gansbaai (between 70 and 130 km from the coast) in water depths ranging between 500 and 3 000 m.
The survey area and indicative survey lines are presented in Attachment A.
The survey duration is expected to be four months and should be completed by the end of April 2019, subject to
good weather and sea conditions. Further details of the survey, survey vessels and operational area are provided
in the attached Notice to Mariners (see Attachment B).
CapMarine has been appointed to provide the Marine Mammal Observer (MMO), Passive Acoustic Monitoring
(PAM) and Fisheries Liaison Officer (FLO) services for the duration of the survey. In order to keep potentially
affected parties informed as to the progress of the survey and the location of the vessel, daily reports will be
compiled and distributed throughout the survey. SLR Consulting (South Africa) (Pty) Ltd (SLR) has been appointed
in an environmental compliance role and to compile the survey close-out report.
