Petroleum Agency SA
Petroleum Agency SA promotes exploration for onshore and offshore oil and gas resources and their optimal development on behalf of government. The Agency regulates exploration and production activities, and acts as the custodian of the national petroleum exploration and production database.
SBIDZ LICO
The Saldanha Bay Industrial Development Zone Licensing Company (SBIDZ LICO), the operator of the Saldanha Bay Industrial Development Zone (SBIDZ) is focused on the establishment of an Oil and Gas Services Freeport cluster incorporating marine repair, fabrication and logistics capabilities that service the regional offshore oil and gas markets of sub-Saharan Africa. The Zone is located in the Port of Saldanha Bay, approximately 2 hours’ drive from Cape Town along the West Coast.
The mandate of the Zone is to stimulate economic growth and sustainable job creation in South Africa in line with the socio-economic developmental plans and policies of the South African Government. The responsibilities of the SBIDZ LICO include the promotion, management and marketing of the Zone in Saldanha Bay; the delivery of internal infrastructure & land to suit investor requirements, and the facilitation of the ease of doing business for investors. In addition, the Zone must also drive a dynamic local skills development and enterprise development programme to ensure maximum localisation of benefits to the West Coast community.
The SBIDZ LICO was officially designated as South Africa’s fifth IDZ by President Jacob Zuma on the 31st October 2013 in Saldanha Bay.
